MR. Hirsch
When Mr. Hirsch was eight years old, he curled up in his grandfather’s enormous orange armchair, devoured the first Harry Potter book, and decided he would spend his life sharing great literature with children. Since joining BASA in 2017, he has brought that passion for literature to the classroom every day.
As BASA’s Reading Curriculum Coordinator, Mr. Hirsch helps children of all ages develop their speaking, reading, and writing skills with confidence and creativity. From Kindergarteners to Grade 12 BASA valedictorians, Mr. Hirsch’s students cultivate their critical thinking abilities, vocabulary, and empathy. These are the qualities strong communicators need, whether preparing for school presentations, speech and debate festivals, or university applications.
Mr. Hirsch has published numerous short stories for children and adults and he regularly performs oral storytelling at events in Vancouver and Toronto. He attended UBC as a Premier Undergraduate Scholar, completing a B.F.A. in Creative Writing before obtaining an M.A. in Children’s Literature. He also holds an Associate Diploma from the Trinity College of London in Speech and Drama.
