The Bellows

At BASA, we encourage our students to develop their ability to play with language and make it their own through a combination of performance, conversation, engagement with literature and naturally, writing. By the end of the school year, most students have composed several original pieces, including at least a couple of poems. Since 2013, The Bellows has been a place for BASA students to showcase their thoughtful, unique, written words. Through the Bellows, students are given the opportunity to contribute to an annual community project, to learn from their peers, and to experience the joy of being published.

Ask your teacher about how YOU can be published in the Bellows.

Firecracker

BASA’s unique anthology of our finest student writing, released annually in the spring. The writing compiled in this book is competitively selected and curated by teachers with a keen eye for literary finesse and talent. Our wish is to expose more readers to our students’ delightful work and give them an opportunity to glean inspiration from each other’s creations.

Although the content of Firecracker varies from year to year, you can expect the pages to be filled with an eclectic selection of writing--memoirs, short stories, poetry, excerpts from ambitious chapter books, and many other surprising treasures. The variety of work in this anthology evidences the limitless imagination of the young writers at BASA.

Participate in BASA’s Writing Contests to get a chance at being published in the Firecracker!
