Born and raised in Jamaica, Matthew Dawkins's work explores subject matters including adolescence, race, and mental health. In Until We Break, Naomi Morgan is the only Black student at her ballet academy, and knows she has to sacrifice her feelings of isolation to win the most prestigious dance competition. But when Naomi’s instructor assigns her a challenging dance, her doubts as well as an injury start to deteriorate her mental health.
